Lighten the Load
Be on the team with the fewest members to win!
Lighten the Load is a game with the opportunity to make money when you win, get your money back if you're the runner up, and donate to a great cause if you lose. Twenty cents of every entry is donated to the Invested Alternative Giving fund to help people pay off medical and student loan debts. The rest goes to the winners.
How It Works:
Join one of three teams at $3.50 per entry. You can put entries into any team and as many as you'd like. The actual numbers of participants in the game are not revealed until the end, but you can use the percentage stats to help you choose. The stats are updated on a daily basis. Ten fake entries will be added and moved to the team with the highest number count each day to encourage more participation. They are removed in the end and not included in the final count.
The game begins once there are at least 5 entries and each team has at least one. The game ends after 7 days and the team with the lowest number of members wins. If there is a tie in the ranks, the game will continue until all 3 teams have different numbers. Each entry in the winning team receives an equal portion of the winnings pot with a minimum winning amount of $5.19 per winning entry. All entries on the second place team get their entry fee refunded, and the team with the most members loses and gets nothing.
Winnings are converted to points. Winning entries get a minimum 5.19 points each, plus more depending on how many total participants there were in the 2nd and 3rd place teams. Second place entries receive 3.5 points each, and losing entries get nothing. Points are redeemed through the Rewards form below for $25, $50, or $100 digital Gift Cards. The number of points you have must match the dollar amount of the gift card to redeem. You keep the change to keep playing and racking up more points.
We do not have a live feature for users to log in and see their total points balance yet. Users will have to track their own, but we provide them upon request by using the Check My Status form below. We will provide you with your points balance and entry positions.
Refunds are only issued by email request in intervals of $3.50 according to your current points balance. Any remaining points after that are donated to the Invested Alternative Giving fund.

STRATEGY
Choose the role of either defender or invader for each entry.
Choose the role of either defender or invader for each entry.
Invaders have the option to switch teams once per day in hopes of ending up on the winning team. Use the "Move Invader Entries" form below.
Defenders are permanent members, but can help reduce the numbers in your team by getting rid of invaders to get you closer to victory. Players that choose the Defender role must select another team to sabotage with each defender entry. At the end of the game the number of invaders equal to the number of defenders are moved to an opposing team which the defenders picked to sabotage, but other teams may have chosen to sabotage you and dump their invaders onto you!
Example: At the end of a game, green team has 25 members: 10 defenders and 15 invaders. 8 defenders picked to sabotage red team and 2 picked blue team. There were 10 defenders, so 10 invaders, chosen at random, will be moved - 8 to red and 2 to blue. Their final total number will be 15 members + any invaders that were dumped on them from the opposing teams' sabotage choices.
If there are more defenders than invaders, all invaders are expelled at random according to the defender's choice at start, then the remaining defenders deflect invaders being dumped on them by other teams on the same 1:1 ratio until all the defender numbers are used up.
